·         The club meets every Wednesday from 12 (noon) - 1 p.m.. at the Swansea room in Building 4, at Sun Microsystem's Broomfield Campus. Please refer to the Directions Page for more information on the location.

How do I become a member?

  • Becoming a member is very easy. Contact our Vice-President of Membership or Secretary/Treasurer to obtain a membership form. Then return the completed membership form along with the appropriate membership fees (refer to the New Member Dues and Fees section below) to the Secretary/Treasurer.

What happens after I submit my application?

  • Once we receive your application and membership fees, our Treasurer will submit an online application on your behalf at the Toastmasters International website.
  • Soon after that you should receive a package via postal mail containing all the prescribed manuals. Upon receipt of your Competent Communicator manual in this package, you can begin giving speeches to the members of the club starting with your "ICE BREAKER".

What are the MEMBERSHIP DUES and FEES?

  • Membership dues and fees are paid semi-annually in advance at the end of September and March, and are turned into Toastmasters International World Headquarters by April 1 and October 1 of each year. The following table shows the semi-annual and monthly breakdown dues:

Toastmasters International: $4.50 monthly; $27.00 semiannually
Opportunity Talks: $1.50 monthly: $9.00 semiannually

Dues and fees collected every six months at the end of September and March are:
($4.50 + $1.50) * 6 = $36.00

Collection Schedule:

By Sep. 27 - Give your check for the first $36.00 to the Treasurer.
By Sep. 28 - Treasurer submits dues to TI Headquarters.

By Mar. 28 - Give your check for the second $36.00 to the Treasurer.
By Mar. 29 - Treasurer submits dues to TI Headquarters.

All checks should be made out to OPPORTUNITY TALKS.

Our Treasurer will make an online payment on your behalf at the

Toastmasters International Website.

What are the NEW MEMBER DUES and FEES?

  • There is a one-time New Member Fee of $20.00 that is paid to Toastmaster's International and covers the costs of registration, your magazine subscription, and your New Membership Packet of manuals and training brochures.
  • All new membership dues are prorated on a monthly basis so that new members pay only for those months remaining in the current semi-annual period.
  • Total new member fees = Number of months to April 1 or October 1 (whichever is closer, current month included) x $6.00 (Toastmasters International fees of $4.50/month + Opportunity Talks club fees of $1.50/month) + $20.00 (one-time new member fee)

Example 1:   If Jane becomes a member in August, she pays:

Toastmasters International dues: $4.50/month for two months (Aug-Sep) = $9.00*
Opportunity Talks club dues: $1.50/month for two months = $3.00*
Toastmasters International New Member Fee = $20.00
Grand Total = $9 + $3 + $20 = $32.00

Jane would then owe $36.00 at the next semi-annual dues collection the following March.

Example 2:   John just relocated to Colorado in June, was a member at another club, and wants to join Opportunity Talks. He would initially pay:

Toastmasters International dues: $0.00 (he already paid at the other club)
Opportunity Talks club dues: $1.50/month for four months = $6.00*
Toastmasters International New Member Fee = $0.00 (he already paid this before)
Grand Total = $6.00

John would then owe $36.00 at the next semi-annual dues collection the following March.

* - This amount varies according to the number of months remaining in the current six-month period.
