When and where does the club meet?

The club meets every Wednesday from 12 P.M. (noon) - 1 P.M. at the Swansea room in Building 4, at Sun Microsystem's Broomfield Campus. Please refer to the directions page for more information on the location.

How do I become a member?

Becoming a member is very easy. Contact our Vice-President of Membership (Trent Turner) to obtain a membership form.

Return the completed membership form along with the appropriate membership fees (check New Membership dues section below) to Trent Turner.

What happens after I submit my application?

Once we receive your application and membership fees, our Treasurer (Cheryl Jackson) will submit an online application on your behalf at the Toastmasters International website.

Soon after that you should receive a package via postal mail containing all the prescribed manuals. Upon receipt of your CTM (Competent Toastmaster) manual in this package, you can begin giving speeches to the members of the club starting with your "ICE BREAKER".

Membership dues:

Toastmasters International monthly dues: $4.50
Opportunity Talks monthly fees : $1.50

All fees are collected for a period of 6 months (October 1 - April 1 and April 1 - October 1). Fees are collected in the months of September and March, due at the World Head Quarters by April 1 and October 1.

Total fees due in September and March: ($4.50+$1.50) * 6 =
$36 EVERY 6 MONTHS.

All checks should be made out to OPPORTUNITY TALKS. Our Treasurer will make an online payment on your behalf at the Toastmasters International Website.

ALL MEMBERSHIP FEES ARE PRORATED.

NEW MEMBER FEES:

New members pay only for those months before April 1 or October 1, for which they will be a member before the regular fee collection time arrives. New members have to pay a one-time fee of $20 to Toastmasters International.

Total new member fees = No. of months to April 1 or October 1 (whichever is closer, current month included) x $6.00 (Toastmasters International fees of $4.50/month + club fees of $1.50/month) + $20.00 (one-time new member fee)

FOR EXAMPLE, if Jane becomes a member in August, she pays:

Toastmasters International fees : $4.50/month for two months (August and September), $9.00 total
Opportunity Talks club fee: $1.50/month for two months, $3.00 total
Toastmasters International New member fee (one-time): $20
Grand Total = $9 + $3 + $20 = $32.00*

All checks should be made out to OPPORTUNITY TALKS. An online application and payment will be made on your behalf to Toastmasters International by our Treasurer.
